Thoughts and Prayers On Good Friday, 4.10.09 By John Barron
Today, on Good Friday, 4.10.09, I am thinking about:
Jesus. His perfection. His crucifixion. His resurrection. His suffering for us. His innocence…he was tempted yet was without sin. God’s constant love and mercy. Man’s evil nature. The Bible says “No one is righteous, not even one.” The Holocaust. How man denies the Holocaust. Christ’s deity… Why did God choose His only son to bear the penalty of man’s sin? The blood He shed for us. So many deny Jesus Christ. Life in Christ is freedom from sin and death. It is forgiveness, a Christ-like character by His Holy Spirit, even eternal life, It is a walk in love, but not a cake-walk… Life apart from Christ is death and eternal separation from God. Hell with real fire and eternal suffering. The Bible says we are fearfully and wonderfully made. No cheap import there… God bids us to follow Him, much as Jesus did as he personally called each of the twelve disciples. Somehow, in God’s majestic sovereignty, we all make a choice. I pray you will pick up your cross and follow Him.
Jesus said in the gospel of John, (If you never read any other part of the Bible, please be sure to read the book of John,) God so loved the world he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John, 3:16
Jesus says the greatest commands are to love God with all of our heart, soul, strength and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves.
That should keep us occupied awhile. Like eternally. Praise God!
Please pray about this, and ask Jesus to come into your heart and to rule your life. It is the greatest decision you will ever make.
Please contact me directly when you have made this decision, or if you have questions along the way. It is true that there are many paths, but many lead to destruction. You may already know this.
Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
I am praying right now that you will follow Jesus. May you be eternally blessed!
With love in Christ, John Barron |
